Fandom Angst Part 2: The Meme
"Waaaaaaah! CP Wikia Just Removed Jeff The Killer!
Actually, they replaced it, with a 2015 re-write.

Ocean Elf: And this is somehow a bad thing?
I have mixed feelings about that. since I don't regard creepy pasta as anything but fanfic/horror story memes, I am surprised that anyone is trying to clean up the wiki. especially since Wikia itself is a place for fandoms, by fandoms.
But at the same time, I can't help laughing at all the tantrums the Jeff fangirls would have over something like that.
They need it knocked into their head that Jeff, Slender Man, Ben Drowned, and the rest are not real, so aren't going to take it personally, plus, they are not so great to the rest of the world who are non-fandom.
The-Metal-Maniac: This isn't too surprising (and kinda expected), but the power tripping mods at the CP wiki have deleted Jeff the Killer, one of the most iconic pastas, from the CP Wiki as of 2:26, Feb 7 2014 UTC, due to it's poor quality!
Ocean Elf: Uh, do I really need to go into why it is poor quality?
And you accuse the mods of being power-tripping when the character Jeff is far worse? Hypocrite. Why is it okay for Jeff to be a power-tripping lout, but not okay for mods at a wiki site to remove substandard content?
The-Metal-Maniac: I sense a lot of outrage toward those elitist jackasses in the near future.
Ocean Elf: Uh, removing substandard content from a site, even if it is just a CP wiki, is not elitist. You aren't just sensing outrage, you're feeling it.
The-Metal-Maniac: Seriously, I get that Jeff the Killer was't the best written pasta (that's a given, considering it was supposedly originally in Spanish), but if they're deleting the creepypasta that's central to Creepypasta's greatest icon (2nd greatest if you factor in the Slenderverse subgenre), then LOLSKELETONS and the rest of the mods are out of their hamgoddemn minds.
Ocean Elf: You say "iconic". I say notorious. So I'm not exactly feeling your pain here.
Apparently they've booted Jeff off to his own wiki 'because of it's poor quality',
Ocean Elf: Really, I thought Jeff got his own wiki right along with Slender Man because the fandom all have their heads so far up Slendy's and Jeff's butts that it wouldn't do for them to be merely on the main CP wiki.
Okay, cringe-worthy as it is seeing those characters have their own wikis, I like this reason better than my original theory. Makes it a lot more bearable.
The-Metal-Maniac: and then have the gall to say that their 'Jeff the Killer Wiki' was made because Jeff "is the most famous and influential creepypasta of all time", and they're giving him 'his own special place in their "network"'.
Ocean Elf: Which was my original theory after all. *Cringe* And you're not satisfied with that. Why am I not surprised? *Rolling eyes*
The-Metal-Maniac: blast YOU CREEPYPASTA WIKI. YOU REALLY THINK THAT'S GOING TO MAKE PEOPLE FORGIVE ALL THE CRAP YOU'VE DONE RECENTLY?
Ocean Elf: Oh wow, I sense a fan-brat tantrum coming up.
Maybe this is all a wake-up call after those Slender stabbings. If the CP wiki management is finally doing something to discourage fan-tards from running amok on their site, more power to them.
The-Metal-Maniac: REPOST THIS AND SPREAD THE WORD!
Ocean Elf: OMG! Another chain letter! Lol, this is too funny!
The-Metal-Maniac: Read the IMPORTANT NOTE at the bottom of the entry.
Ocean Elf: Read it? Sure. Think it's important? Uh, not so much.
The-Metal-Maniac: EDIT II:
mrangrydog: was already working on a wiki called Creepypasta Land Wiki to replace the craphole that is CPWiki, so go there if you want to post your stories, not to the scum that is CPWiki!
Ocean Elf: Thanks for the warning, I don't write creepy pastas, and don't like MrAngryDog or his notorious Jane The Killer. So I won't be visiting that wiki any time soon.
The-Metal-Maniac: EDIT III:
The-Metal-Maniac: Here's a quote from ClericofMadness, the CPWiki's founder, on his take on whole thing (quoting directly from the comments in this journal):
Undeleted. The reason for this story to be deleted was utter nonsense. While the sheer volume and majority of JtK clones or spinoff/piggybacking stories are utter garbage (AND THEY ARE DON'T EVEN PRETEND THEY AREN'T) the original is still a well-established piece of internet horror fiction.
It's like the MAIN THING THE WIKI AIMS TO PRESERVE.
If you're reading this...do not delete any more WELL-ESTABLISHED stories. While new stories may be faulted for grievous errors, deleting well-established pieces of fiction because you do not like them or because they spawn crappy spinoffs is
I N T E R N E T C E N S O R S H I P.
Don't do that.
Ocean Elf: Huh?
It isn't censorship, and there's no need to shout. Just because it is gone from one site doesn't mean it can't be on another.
And well established doesn't mean good.
The-Metal-Maniac: Now, Cleric doesn't get the final word on what goes on in that wiki (That's a community-driven thing). However, it's still interesting to see what the man responsible for creating the site in the first place has to say on the matter.
Ocean Elf: Yeah, I'm confused.
The-Metal-Maniac: IMPORTANT NOTE:
Ocean Elf: Oh, here it comes.
The-Metal-Maniac: As of Tuesday, February 11th, 2014 5:05 AM PST, the Jeff the Killer creepypasta has been restored to the main Creepypasta wiki by the wiki admin Lil' Miss Rarity.
Ocean Elf: Ugh. Miss - "Rarity" MLP. *Cringe*
The-Metal-Maniac: I don't know why she did it, but I'm just happy to see that one of the most well-known creepypastas (as mediocre as the writing is) is back on the CP wiki where it belongs.
Ocean Elf: And that was important? Bleh.
